dogs,dogs,dogs

I was in a waiting room of car repair shop watching tv yesterday while expensive surgery was being performed on my tired old car. It took quite some time, over 6 hours, and I rose to pace everyonce in awhile. It was tough watching horrid daytime tv, but the waiting room tv just had the one channel. Maybe they'll use a portion of my paid bill and buy another channel. Man, I'm glad I'm not stuck watching that crap everyday. One talkshow had an overdressed woman("dressed like a well-kept grave", as W.C. Fields would've said under his breath) with her 2 small dogs that were dressed better than I was.
Out of the blue, being the shy guy that I am, I asked a woman wearing a huge yellow hat hiding her eyes who was sitting across from me if she had a dog. She lifted her head astonished that a stranger was talking to her, but quickly recovered, smiled at me, and said that she did in fact have a dog that had one foot in the grave but was hanging on to dear life.
We had a lovely conversation about our beloved dogs, past and present, and it certainly lifted my spirits.
It seems like it's the small moments in life, not trying to part seas or any other grand gestures, that get us through the days....don't you think so?
