balance act
Traversing along a polished stone tableau
across a gurgling dark creek
or a melting deer-tracked stream
You're better off alone
avoiding the well-intentioned hand
assuredly knocking your balance askew
But there are worse things that can happen
besides small shoes and socks
weighted with frigid water.

Perfectly written- lovely prose- but, I vote for better to share then be alone!
Artful and appealing. Well done.
Ouch! Cold toes...nothing worse! Ha!
Well done

I like your poem's cold waters and how it fits in nicely with your background.
for sure there are worse things, but wet socks are pretty bad!
This was nostalgic for me. I enjoyed the vivid picture you painted.
=)
lovely image and I'll hold the hand even if I do get wet socks!
Charming and chilling at the same time...
I enjoyed this ... reminds me of the hundreds and hundreds of times my sister and I had to cross a creek to get cows out to pasture for the day. We experienced a few cold toes and soaked shoes!
clever imagery conveying a story with so few words
