Count Basie's Orchestra, with the amazing Joe Williams vocal, on Peter Chapman's Every Day(I Have The Blues).
Towards the end of the song Mr. Williams holds a beautiful note for about 15 seconds, not to show off, but just to add the right touch to my favorite Basie number.
More celebration of Basie..here and there and a scene with Lockjaw Davis.

Phil, I have to be honest...your post 'death' kind of knocked me cattywampus, but nonetheless beautifully written. 'Basie on his birthday' set me back on course...Whew!
