Fabulous photo! I saw a wonderful documentary on her not too long ago on American Experience.
Hi Phil..Is it your birthday?? Happy Birthday and wishing you a fun filled day. I read about Amelia Earhart not so long ago...I believe it was in a fashion magazine of all places....seems her style is appreciated once again..they've even named furniture collections after her along with Hemingway...funny world...huh? By the way..you header is awesome...
willow, you're right it is a great portrait!
no, dee dee, it was just her birthday. :) Mine is a couple weeks away yet.
When I did a photo search I did find some timeless stylish shots of her.
All that, and so beautiful, too. My mother wrote about this day in her diary. Mom was 7 years old and spending a summer afternoon at her Aunt Bena's and heard the news that AE had vanished in her plane. She wrote that surely they would find her and she would come home a hero.
Last week I traveled to Atchinson, KS and followed a sign that pointed me up to the bluff overlooking the Missouri River to the house where she spent her summers with her grandparents.
